    Question vendors

    Hi all,

Does anyone know of one or more vendors (online or not) that stocks a razor:
    - with thumb notch
    - stainless steel (at least blade, maybe scales too)
    - round point (or at least not square "dangerous" point...)
    - anywhere from 4/8th to 13/16th
    - anywhere from full wedge to full hollow

Generally speaking it seems very rare to me to have the first three attributes in one razor.
But I think I saw one somewhere but I can't remember what website...

    Thanks
    Christophe (from Vancouver, BC, Canada)

The closest to thumb notch I have seen on a stainless razor is Fridour Spanish point. You can probably get what you are looking for from a custom razor maker, I know Devin Thomas works with stainless steels. I have never seen stainless steel scales on a razor, they would be too heavy and tottaly off balance with the blade.
    - round point (or at least not square "dangerous" point...)
Henckels Fridour is the most popular stainless steel line of razors, and there is nothing dangerous about square point, my first razor was square point and I did not nick my self more than a handful of times while learning on it.
    - anywhere from 4/8th to 13/16th
    - anywhere from full wedge to full hollow
The variety of sizes that I have seen varies from 5/8 to 8/8 full hollow, and occasionally a wedge grind

    What mainaman says...

Head over to Shaving Shop - luxury classic wet shaving products - straight razors and buy a Friodur, you will not regret buying one, they are superb shaves.

+1 on the friodur, I recently aquired a matching set of vintage henckels friodurs and I absolutely love them. I haven't even touched any of my other razors since I got these(which I almost feel guilty about). As far as the square point I wouldn't let that sway you, that's all I've used thus far and not one of the nicks I've had were as a result of the square point.

There are also two stainless Dovo's I really like, but their names are hard to spell. The Renni and the Gren....something or other.

Steaight Razor Designs has a Dovo that is called the Dovo all Stainless. I have this razor and it does a very good job with little maintenance shaved for like 7 months with out needing a touch up, that is the glory of Stainless steal.

Hart Steel at Classic Shaving meets most of your requirements:
    Stainless Steel
    Rounded
    Jimps (but no thumb notch)
    6/8 size

This is an outstanding razor. It comes in a polished and a satin vision. I have one of each. I like the satin better because it is easier to keep looking nice. They are a bit pricey but I liked the opportunity to buy an American made razor.

    Happy Shaving!

    . . .
Hart razors are really nice, but they're made of O1 tool steel, not stainless steel. Classic Shaving recommends oiling the blades.
