Who did you order it from? It may be, but you would have to check with the vendor......
Their website indicates that all razors are hand honed and "shave ready", but that's if it is coming directly from Hart.

Congratulations on purchasing a fine U.S. made straight razor. Hart razors are no nonsense serious razors and I enjoy mine very much. All of the Hart's I have purchased have been shave ready on delivery. You might want to keep in mind when your Hart may need honing that Hart hones their razors at the shop with one layer of electrical tape on the spine. Whether you hone it yourself or send it to one of our razor honing experts it may
be useful information.Bob

I really like them all, If I had to choose it would be the first one, I got it as soon as they went on sell and have never put it on a hone. but then I only use it 2 or 3 times a month. As soon as I come up with the funds I'll have 3 more to make a seven day set I just need to find someway to get the days of the week on the spines.

Congratulations. I hope you like your Hart as much as I like mine.
My first Hart Steel was a 6/8 with polished blade, rounded point, jimps, and black scales. It was a superb shaver right out of the box. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered a second 6/8 with a satin blade, rounded blade, no jimps, and black scales (the early "Plain Jane" model). It was equally superb right out of the box. I keep both touched up with a Barber's hone. I happen to like the satin a little better because it seems easier to keep looking nice.
The Hart Steel razors are in the top echelon of my 35 razors. I could happily live with either one as my only razor. I highly recommend Hart razors.
My current top ten razors in order of preference include:
- 13/16 J. A. Henckels Zwillingswerk 72 1/2 (A+++)
- 6/8 Thiers-Issard Le Grelot (A+++)
- 6/8 Theirs-Issard Le Grelot (duplicate) (A+++)
- 6/8 Hart Steel Satin (A+++)
- 6/8 Hart Steel Polished (A+++)
- 5/8 Filarmonica Doble Temple 12 (A++)
- 4/8 Le Grelot P-Hospital (A++)
- 4/8 Strega (Eskilstuna, Sweden) (A++)
- 6/8 Revisor Prima Solingen (6-0029) (A++)
- 5/8 Dovo "en vogue No. 105" - Black Micarta (A++)
Happy Shaving!
