Generic Razor?
I am looking at this razor and wondering why there is no name on it? Just says made and ground in Sheffield England? Can anybody shed light on this for me, I have never seen this before.
The picture should be attached if I did it right.

I would guess that a lot of razor companies
would make razors for others and put that
particular customers name on it.
With this particular razor perhaps the customer
didn't want anything.
This razor just might be a W&B.....
This is just wild speculation on my part though.

Or it could have had just some light etching on the blade that got polished off. In any case it looks like a nice piece.

Thanked: 2The trade mark could be on the back of the tang. the razor looks old enough that it was before the huge age of "branding", when a quality item was enough, without a flashy logo.
The wording still sounds odd though. I've seen many razors that say "forged and ground in..." usually sheffield or germany, but I don't recall seeing a razor that says "Made in..." Perhaps I'm just drawing a blank because it's 8am and I've been up all night. Still, I agree, it looks to be a good piece.

Thanks guys, I agree it does look nice. It would be nice to know more about it, but I guess that would be difficult. I suppose like mentioned above it could have been ordered by a smaller retailer to sell and they didn't bother putting their name on it? I'll let you know if it turns out to be as nice as it seems.
