Thread: 7 Day Straight set!

I was at an antique fair today and saw a boxed 7 day straight set
Taylors Eyewitness 1000.
I inspected all the blades and scales, there was medium wear a little heavy on the toe but not really bad.
I thought to my self I will pay £80.00 / $150.00, turned over the box and found the price. £275.00 / $510.00
Didn’t even make an offer. I suspect he will have them for a while.
Me thinks Tooooo much. Any comments???

Yikes, that's a lot of dough, even when the exchange rate didn't suck quite so badly. $510 isn't quite enough to buy the most expensive DOVO set at classicshaving, but you can buy some mighty fine ones.

Given then markup on antiques, and the fact that you're a knowledgeable buyer, you might have been able to bargain him down. But you'd be asking him to take off almost £200, which I doubt he would have been willing to do.

They weren't really /that/ nice, were they?

I like Taylor's but not at over a G for a 7 day set lol.

If they were in mint condition and had ivory scales its might sound reasonable but thats on the way high side.

You should have laughed at him and offered him 80, bought it for 100 and sold it for 200

For the price you were willing to offer I would expect no rust/pitting or chips, perfect scales and some kind of sweetener like file worked back, etching on the face of the blade or some such.

Seven day sets don't really sell for that much per razor.
