I find this whole string interesting. I shave every day with a straight edge and never oil the blade. I have no problem keeping an edge or with residual rust. However, I have to agree with "bmf2001", dry, dry, dry is essential. After shaving I wipe the blade clean with a cloth, blow any moisture off the scales and wipe again, then strop the blade several times to take the moisture off the edge and store it in a dry place. This method has worked for years. I do oil the pin once a month. If you rotate blades every day and won't get back to a particular blade for quite some time, maybe oiling the blade makes sense. I personally think oiling your blade everyday is overkill and unnecessary.
