Rescued razors
Would anyone be interested in having a sub forum devoted to examples of RESCUED vintage straight razors. Some of these are scattered throughout the Workshop, Show and Tell, and other forums. I'm referring to those razors that have been cleaned up, made shave ready, and perhaps have new scales yet have not been "cleaned" to the point of erasing original etchings or tang identification but still have many pits and other imperfections. The character of the razor would be retained including the "through-the-mill" results of its history. Reconstructed razors that are truly outstanding would not be included because they can be shown elsewhere. These probably would not be the product from an elaborate workshop, but rather those from a small corner-of-a-room workspace with maybe a dremel and elbow grease.

Thanked: 247I'm not opposed. Most of mine would be in that sub-forum I'd say.

this topic has somewhat been touched on before. I think the main issue was based on the definitions (ie what one person thinks is a custom restore is what another person thinks is your definition of "rescued").

Thanked: 13245You are in that forum....
Razors....
There are also the Razor Clubs which you can form anyone you want, but the "Rustiques" comes to mind off the bat
BTW There are still way more guys posting in the Customs/Restorations that use Elbow grease Sandpaper and Dremels then Pros... Once you start doing more than MAAS and a cloth you are Restoring razors, come on in the water is fine...
PS: I also think that TwistedOak nailed the true reason the best
"I think the main issue was based on the definitions, ie: what one person thinks is a custom restore is what another person thinks is your definition of "rescued"
That division could lead to some hurt feelings that I for one would rather avoidLast edited by gssixgun; 01-15-2012 at 04:55 PM.

Googling 'Rustiques' should get you this link:
