A cure, absolutely! Start collecting Shelby's or Corvettes!! With those payments, you'll forget about your RAD!!
RAD's how I cured my SAD (Shelby AD)! Wife's very happy now that my toys come in little boxes instead of garages.

Thanked: 1185In my experience at least, RAD is rather like being drunk. There are lots of myths and suggestions on how to make it go away but at the end of the day TIME is the only solution. Eventually, you'll buy enough razors or develop other ADs that will replace RAD (i.e. PAD pipe acquisiton disorder, CAD cigar acquisition disorder, etc.) and your RAD will go into temporary remission. Not to worry though, it will be back as soon as you see one razor and think, "Gee, it's only one and it's a really nice razor too." Not unlike a recovering alcoholic who after a period of sobriety decides he can go to a bar and have just one beer.
The trick with wives and girlfriends is to convince them that 1. You're not really spending that much money (I know but it's just a little fib ) 2. Your disease is harmless compared to what "some guys" do (i.e. vintage cars, young hot mistresses, etc.) 3. (now we're proceeding towards desperate rationalization) Tell her you're trying to look and smell nice for her. And if all the above fail there's always "The Nuclear Option". It goes like this. "What!? I have too many razors? Are you kidding me, look at all your ____ (fill in the blank shoes, makeup, knick-nacks or whatever you can easily justify). Have you ever heard me say a word to you about that? No, in fact I think I've even bought you several. I'm not saying...I'm just saying."The older I get, the better I was

1OldGI is right, the most common cure is time, and as it turns out, space...
The various AD's tend to go away after a while, sometimes shifting to others, sometimes just hibernating for a while.
Take comfort in the fact that there is always someone else even more bitten than yourself.
But hey, getting new gear is always fun, and how in the world are we gonna keep practising honing without new arrivals every week??Bjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

My wife does not understand why I need more than one straight razor. She thought it was a waste of money despite her having a hundred pair of shoes when she only wears one pair at a time.
She actually told me that I am selfish for not selling some of my razors and using the money for a family vacation.
On January 10th of this year I filed for divorce. Problem solved, no more wife bitching and no more extra funds for my RAD.

I just support my gf's AD's thus she seldom questions mine. I have helped her nearly acquire all of the MAC makeup brushes and whatnot. I also go with her to makeup and clothing stores with not so much as a grumble. A small sacrifice to watch her enjoy her hobby goes a long way.
