I have a Torrey 6/8 round point stamped with the standard US on a double point arrow. It does have Army in black etching on the blade and black celluloid scales. great shaver.

To see Torreys from the early days, tang stamps such as these are among the oldest! I am of the opinion these were probably made in Connecticut by Turner before he joined Torrey in Mass as the bulk of his work in Conn was contracted to Torrey.

I'm in worcester a few times a month. I always wonderedwhat the factory address was. I wanted to drive by an see what is there. Is that the address of the plant?

I love JR torrey's. i own two my self, any chance you would post a picture?

This advertisement shows the address as 128 Chandler street. Looking at google maps, Scott64a location looks right as the building is on a corner lot.

Resurrecting an old thread, but I would be grateful for some info on this old Torrey razor that I have had for a number of years.
It has just been a drawer queen and never used by meIt has got a MOP covering to the tang, with the makers name and address around a doubled ended spear with the letters US intertwined !
It also has its original coffin box along with the original leaflet.
Would this have been manufactured during the latter half of the 19th Century and are they considered to be good shavers ?
Any comments appreciated !

I think it is very hard to pin down when a razor was made unless you can find a company catalogue with your razor model in it to get some general idea. Torrey was a well respected razor maker who were in business for a hair over 100 years. I think it is safe to say that Torrey razors are considered to be good shavers. Yours appears to be in excellent. If you got it shave ready, I am sure you would enjoy shaving with it.
