The razor that gives me the most pleasure is my John Barber, it's not my best shaver, but it is my favorite. I like to try and imagine the people it shaved in it's 180+ years and the conditions that they shaved under.

I have a J. Wostenholm EBRO that is covered in tarnish and devil spit, has horrible hone wear, has a double warp to the blade and has a set of scales that don't fit the razor right at all. It also shaves better than any other razor I have ever used.

Of the few that I've used, my current favorite is a Norvell-Shapleigh Snap No. 35 that I found in a junk store a few weeks ago. Despite being a rote beginner when it comes to honing, I was able to put a really nice edge on it and it is easily my best shaver.

I don't have any one favorite. I like different razors for different reasons. I like ducks because I collect them and some Livi's are great lookers but really when it comes to shaving if any razor gives me a great shave it's my favorite that day.

Amen. Each time I get a good shave from one of my razors I think, "Hey, this is probably my favorite." I have so many "favorites" that I gave up that way of thinking about it.

Though I haven't met a razor yet that doesn't give me a good shave (i've not used anything that isn't vintage). From $10 to $110, or whatever my cost range has been, the thing I notice most about the expensive razors thus far is they're straighter and the grind is closer to perfect (which is nice when honing). That doesn't mean that some of my cheapies don't have great grinds, because a couple of them have fantastic grinds, but a couple aren't quite as straight with quite as good of a grind.

Yeah, that's how it has become for me too.
