My new old Whipped Dog Catteraugus. Any thoughts?
Hi All,
Im new to straights, and just followed advice here and ordered my first from whipped dog. Its a Catteraugus. He said its never been honed before he honed it for me, and Im inclined to trust him, as he was super nice, and has alot of praise here on SRP.The heel looks like its been honed down some before, but I'm so new to this I could be wrong. Im gonna give it a go, and most likely switch to something newer. Something about about this gives me the heebie jeebies. Maybe its just that it and the coated balsa came wrapped in the obituary section of the Newspaper..Whats with that? Apparently, when I was researching whipped dog before I bought from him, someone else mentioned that theirs came in the obituary section as well. I thought it was just coincidence, but now mine too?Creeeeepy! Like something out of a Stephen King novel. Im almost afraid to shave with it...Last edited by Chefbaze; 02-16-2012 at 10:56 PM.

Maybe I'm missing something but what are those scratches at the very edge of the razor?

Thanked: 1371It's a nice looking razor and should provide a lifetime of good shaves.
I suspect the scratches are from a piece of foreign particulate on one of the low grit stones during honing... I know Larry sometimes uses a DMT 325 to set bevels. It's possible that some free diamonds caused those scratches.
