That's been my experience as well, I've got a couple of 5/8 and 6/8 framebacks and one big 8/8 W&B, and all of them have taken an edge without effort. I think I could just threaten them with the hone and they'd get sharper.

The aesthetics have kept me from buying one of these also. They sound functional though....maybe next year.

Aesthetically - I think they are very nice, actually.

Before you reach any conclusion about aesthetics, look at this one http://shavingshop.com/index.php?ite...6category%3D31. It's also the best shaving frameback I own, and it's among my best shaving razors.

Now there you go, tempting me again.

That's a mighty nice razor, Joe.

I think I've mentioned this one before. It's an 8/8 W&B that while not as pretty as Joe's is an extremely fine shaver nonetheless.

I actually think it's very nice! Not too keen on gold etchings... Otherwise, Joe's razor is fabulous too!

What I think of as my premier frameback is below. It's 7/8 and pretty old, with some graying patina but great shape for its age. I am going to use it but still not sure if I want to clean it or leave it like this... Getting a serious competition from a 6/8 F. Reynolds (like the one Bill sold on his side) which needs some TLC

    Cheers

That is a truly nice frameback. I sold a Dorko that looked sortof like that a while ago. Shaved like a beast and was very easy to hone. I hope the person recieving it (if he hasn't gotten it yet) enjoys it.

I have a related question for frameback users:

Do the framebacks with interchangable blades, like the one below, perform as well as the ones with integral blades?

Yes, as long as the blades still mount snugly.
