Why do you like framebacks?
I often wonder why some of us like framebacks. I mean I find a few attractive but mostly I like the blade to have that "flow". From the curves of a full hollow ground to the meatiness of a wedge. Is it the way it shaves? Enlighten me frameback junkies. Pics are nice too!

Personally, I find that they take a great edge, that is also VERY thin! Plus, they are easy to hone.
I was a bit skeptical about them at first, however, I have not been let down by one yet....

I have a couple and I agree they have a thin edge and do hone pretty easily. To me they are just another type of razor to have in the rotation. I can't say I'm crazy about them over others but if I had to choose between a frameback and a wedge I'd take the frameback every time.

Thanked: 4I love them because they are stiff as wedges and hone like the hollow razor. Makes for quick work on the hone and they mow through my beard.

That's a frameback (I've posted it for trade in the Buy/Sell forum).
This particular one's frame is not part of the blade, but they're definitely anchored together.
I've never really cared for the look of most framebacks, myself: and this is the main reason I'm trying to get rid of this guy.

Thanked: 9Several points - light and stiff they are, indeed. Easy to hone - not in my book. I have several, and haven't been able to get a single one of them as sharp as the hollows I have worked on. This actually bugs me to no end
gotta go home work on my framebacks. For the record, I have been able to get a wedge shave-ready (not comparable to Joe Chandler, though, this guy does some magik to his edges)
Cheers

Thanked: 346Are you sure they're straight? I think composite framebacks aren't very strong and are more prone to warping than other styles of razor.

Thanked: 9Michael,
they are several - 4/8, 5/8, 6/8 and 7/8. I just can't believe they are all messed up. I get them to pop hairs, more or less... but not quite where I want them
Cheers
