Thanked: 0Any of these descent?
I've found a few razors on ebay that are fairly cheap and ending soon. Any good? I mean obviously they won't be that great, but will I get a good shave out of them without having to sharpen them too often?
Crowing Rooster 9 3/4 " Straight Razor Black/White Swirl 20700- zix | eBay
B&B TITANIUM STRAIGHT RAZOR RAINBOW GREEN | eBay
SMITH &WESSON FOLDING STRAIGHT RAZOR | eBay
New Straight Razor,Giesen & Forsthoff,Solingen, Germany, 5/8 #150 | eBay
Which one would you get/anything bad with either of them? Not sure if I'd like to spend 60 bucks on a razor, but if I have to to get a nice shave I will.

Thanked: 993Hi there.....
Please do yourself a favour. Stay away from Ebay until you know exactly what you are doing and what to look for. Tampering with ebay will be a waste of money for you.
Go to the SRP classifieds, and look around there. The sellers are largely reputable, and most of the blades will come shave ready (sharpening will usually cost about $20 plus shipping).
$60 for a quality vintage razor is a great deal. Think less about price, and more about quality.

Welcome to SRP. In short, if you have to ask you shouldn't buy them. Maxi gave you good advice above.

Good advice! Do some research on which kind of razor to buy. You picked all of the "not recommended" razor on sleazebay. Tkae your time. Remember tht you will hopefully have this razor for a long time. You want make sure it is the right one... It is better to pay up front, rather than ten more times down the road..

Thanked: 46Welcome to SRP!!!! If you must have a new razor, then go straight to SRD and call these guys, talk to them, and seriously consider the starter package. You will save MUCH money!! If you want to go vintage, there are thousands of razors to choose from. Your problem at this stage of the game is that you don't know what to look for as for as condition is concerned. You will need to buy from a honest seller and need the razor in ''' shave ready"' condition. 99.999% of the razors on the bay will NOT be shave ready. I recommend Larry at Whipped Dog or our own add section right here at SRP. Our guys here are not trying to get rich on their razors, but really want to help the beginner get started on the right path at a reasonable price. Very best, and good luck, John

The first 3 are what are known as RSO's (razor shaped objects) . They are nothing more than flashy junk , and will never be capable of giving you a good shave , no matter who hones them . The Giesen & Forsthoff might be okay (I don't know) , but for a few more dollars you can get a new , hand honed , shave ready Dovo from SRD .
And like everyone else has said , stay away from ebay until you know what you're looking at .
Don't forget about a strop .Last edited by dave5225; 02-29-2012 at 03:11 AM.

I have to agree with everyone else. Do a little research before you jump in to save yourself from a horrible first shaving experience. The first razors are the nice looking new razors but are cheap in quality and often need to be reground in order to produce decent results.
My advice would be to contact an approved vendor from SRP or contact SRD directly and tell them your a newbie and that you would like a nice vintage that is shave ready and a strop. You could also try Larry from Whipped Dog Straight Razor Shaving Equipment. He has a starter kit for about 50 or 60 dollars and it comes with a strop. The razors are nothing pretty but they are shave ready and provide great results.
Good luck
