Thanked: 0Oops, impulse eBuy!
I am pretty new to this lark, but was thinking it might be nice to have a couple of older razors to practice honing, maybe try my hand at a bit of restoration, without ruining my lovely Ironwood Dovo (thanks Jarrod at Superior Shave!)
Cut to 3 minutes later I am the winning bidder on this cast of characters:
eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices
Obviously some real junk in there (that missing chunk is sure going to take some grinding out!), but wondering if anyone spots anything worth working on...
Cheers,
-Gabe

Thanked: 51The Wade and Butcher and the Henkels look good to me. However, there's no reason that all of those razors can't be made shave-ready again barring some unseen issues.

Thanked: 0That is most excellent (and frankly, somewhat surprising,) news. Thanks very much for the reply. Maybe I will get my practice in on the others and save the Wade and Butcher and the Henkels for later
Very excited.
PS, does anyone know how I can get my facial hair to grow faster? I hate all this waiting between shaves now

Sometimes you can find good razor in lot sale on eBay. For example to me this sell was worth to be consider but is just my personal opinion: Lot of 3 Antique Straight Razors-Burrell, Wester Yankee, Horden & Sons | eBay

Thanked: 0That seemed like a good deal. Don't recognize any of the makers. Have a lot of reading to do. I really have no idea if I grossly overpaid, but some of the razors seemed to be in OK shape, and I recognized at least some of the makers, and I figured I would get a lot of practice in working on that many blades. Also the auction was ending 3 minutes after I first looked at it, and that always makes me a little trigger happy. Anyway, haven't bought anything on eBay in over a year, so I was due. Cheers.

Thanked: 884I think you did alright. I would ask the seller to throw that set of reddish celluloid scales in the trash and not include them in the box. They've eaten one blade pretty bad already.

There's a couple in the bunch that are well past their use by date but in general you did ok.
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.
