Thanked: 884Can't help but wonder if C.W. Dahlghren was related to John Adolphus Bernard Dahlgren AKA "father of American naval ordnance." Both were approximately the same age and both were born in Sweden. It was a pair of Dalghren's guns that were mounted on the USS MONITOR during its battle with the CSS VIRGINIA for the first real battle of "iron clads".
I'm digging for a clue, but have yet to tie 'em together any way other than by their name.
