What a beautiful and hard to find razor! Congratulations too on the restoration!

Before registering to SRP I didn't know that the ducks have this cult-like status in the U.S.

I started straight razor shaving last month.
I told my cousin to keep his eye out for older blades and he told his barber who gave him a 'reaper' to give to me.

However, the mark on the tang is different from the others I seen on the forums.

Notice that the outside diamond is a single line and the there is no relief and shading inside.

Any ideas why mine is different?
Maybe mine is an earlier or later model?

As above, beautiful razor there. I don't go for expensive razors myself but if I was ever to splash out on one it would be a DD! What a bonus to have a barber pass one on, it's got a real pedegree behind it. I've never even seen a Dubl Duck in the UK but hope to own one someday.

Just a different die. You see much variation over time with the logos.

Different sense of marketing back then apparently.
Maybe because the razor would last you the rest of your life? Until you meet the reaper?

I'm not in North America either, albeit I am Canadian - the DD had to travel 13,000 KM to get to me down here in New Zealand. I think it's pretty safe to say that this is one of a handful, if not the only one in the country (:

On a slightly related side note, I did pick up 2 new razors today! I scored 2 Bengall barber razors with celluloid tortoise scales, in the original wooden case for $50 today! The box is in pretty sorry shape, but the razors are definitely fixable! I'll throw some pictures up tomorrow.
