Evenin Gents!
Colleen here, I learned about my new razor early this morning and I can hardly wait. Its true that after discovering that I "the soapmistress" really did shave her legs with a disposable ( disgraceful, just disgraceful) that JLStorm decided to save me the embarrassment and purchase such a lovely razor for me. ( and a Big Thanks to you to Terry)
So now "I too" will be able to join those on the porch and boast of my razor's wonderful qualities... ..lol (eagerly rubbing hands together)
I'll let ya know how it goes. I've never shaved with anything other than a disposable!!!!

Colleen, just remember the following things:
1) Keep the blade at a 30 degree angle to the skin
2) First pass with the grain
3) NO PRESSURE!
You'll do just fine

Just like any other aspect of shaving, blades are a personal preference. You will have a favorite brush, razor, shaving cream/soap, etc, and a favorite blade. I have DE blades from Personna, Derby, Feather, Merkur, Israel Personna, Swedish Gillettes, etc. Vendors have contacted me (part of being a moderator at DE forums) to try their different blades, which is one of the reasons I don't shave with a straight razor daily. Each blade is different. When I first got started with DE shaving, the Feathers and Merkurs were the "holy grail" blades. I quickly learned that I did not prefer either one. But that was just my opinion. My favorite straight is a Mondesir. You may not like it, or have ever heard of it. Just like a cologne, you won't know if you like a blade until you try it.

OK heres my first "Newbie" question.....
So all these different types of blades will work in the same razor? even though the razor was made many years ago? Are all DE's that way?
well....three questions

Use the weight of the razor only. A feather touch.
