"have you been buying razors again?!"

"of course not dear, see there are only 7 in the box just as always"

Iwan has obviously been giving this situation some thought already! The only snag is that you have to keep your SO from reading the forum.

Then again, she thinks I am just having some sort of crisis so reading the forum is probably the LAST thing she would think to do...

On another note, do you guys find that along with enjoying a good old-fashioned shave you also prefer other things that might be considered obsolete or at least old technology?

Case in point: I prefer my music on vinyl, my coffee hand-ground and perked, my guitart amps powered my tubes and razors straight. Oh, BTW, for a living, I am an IT consultant...

I'm a mix of high and low tech... Got all of the entertainment goodies, a cell that also plays mp3s and my computer is my second home. At the same time, I drive stick, shave with a straight and I do all of my BBQing on actual wood.

I prefer a stick, but the SO doesn't know how to drive one. As far as BBQ over wood: is there any other way? Am I missing something here? Don't get me wrong, I appreciate technology, but only if it is truly a better way.

Well charcoal ain't bad either, then there's propane and it goes all the way down to the George Forman grill lol. I'm fortunate that I live in the burbs so I don't have to deal with rush hour traffic. If I had to do a 2hr each way stop and go commute, I'd go automatic. Your SO can also learn as it's not that difficult. I taught 4 of my female friends and one male buddy to drive stick without any difficulties even though he was the king of car accidents.

I enjoy bowhunting with a recurve bow with no wheels, no sights, no cables and no mechanical releases. I like gathering my own wild mushrooms and enjoy old world craftsmanship.

You mean you have to pull that string back all by yourself???!!! Next your going to tell me you actually cook the meat with heat like on a stove or something. <g>.

Actually I like the old ways myself too. On a side note, I walked into best Buys on Sunday and didn't even recognize what half the new fangled electronic stuff was.
Just not my thing, hell, my Beta player is still blinking 12:00 because I don;t know how to set it <g>

Real charcoal is great, but I don't touch briquettes. What are briquettes made out of anyway, used motor oil?

I like grilling over charcoal, though I do use briquettes. Go ahead, shake your head, I know you want to. I've never really thought of automatic trannies as the successor to stick, just an alternate choice...willing to sacrifice MPG and maintenance dollars for losing the hassle of shifting by hand? Kind of like power seats / gascaps.

That being said, I'm a techno-kid. I like mp3s, solid state, the internet, Voltron, and the Wii. Maybe after my first shave I'll give it all up, but I don't think it could be /that/ good...
