Default Any thoughts or Ideas on this new 5 piece Wacker set?

    Hello Gentlemen!

One of many dreams came true today. I told my wife that a Wacker was one of my dream razors and that if I got one, I'd wouldn't have to buy anymore. As it just happened, she took it to heart and allowed me to bid on this 5 day Wacker set on Ebay which I didn't get my hopes up for winning thinking it would easily overreach my bid range. However I almost pee'd myself when I saw that I won it and it only reached $400. I am still in shock but have regained bladder control. Now I am nervous because the price was so low. Was there something seen in the pics that I missed that lessened the demand? Why didn't people see the value of 5 Wackers for this price? I assumed at least it would go for $500 minimum considering $100 per wacker in working condition is good but this low of a price scares me. Especially, because now I have to sell off alot of Name: Wacker.jpg

Size: 32.2 KBmy collection to make the money back per our agreement. Anyhow, I've also read that Wackers can be finnicky when honing. I have moderate honing skills. Would you reccomend I try it myself or send them off? I would like to get some feedback from people with Wacker experience, especially since I plan on keeping these and only letting go upon my death or dismemberment. They appear to be in very good condition but the price being so low makes me think I may have missed something here. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Looks like a beautiful set to me. Wacker is not a particularly collectible .... as in hot commodity ..... brand the way Fillys, Puma Gold, Wonderedge are. I bet if the razors had been sold individually they probably would have brought $100 + each. Not everyone is into shelling out four or five hundred for 5 razors in a set, though they wouldn't hesitate to buy one individual razor. I have the two razor Wacker set and IIRC I paid close to what you paid for your set. I have been very pleased with mine . So quit complaining that you didn't spend enough money !

Great score. Nothing jumps out at me as problematic. I would recommend getting them honed professionally, if for no other reason than to have a few good edges to aspire to with your own honing. Enjoy!!

Nice score! I don't see any problems but I didn't study the photo in detail. There are rare occasions where the moon and planets are aligned correctly where great deals are had on ebay but it doesn't usually happen w/o lots of searching and lost bids. I would say get one or two honed by a pro and then try to hone the others yourself. Enjoy your new razors!

. They do sharpen a little differently. It takes a little time to get the sweet spot.. But when you do, man do is shave well! That is the "in" with the wife, keep two with the hones and two in the bathroom, she will forget which one you are keeping... Str8ts to women are like women's shoes to us... As long as only a few pair are visible in the closet we don't really pay attention to what's on thier feet until they say something.

Bladder control is a good thing, but you shave in the bathroom anyway, so you're good to go, both literally and figuratively.

Thanks a lot for the input everyone. I was really worried for a second because I will have to say goodbye to most of my Boker collection as well as a very loved bergischer lowe to compensate for the cash but all of your comments have reassured me that that it is worth it. I am very blessed to have a wife that is so understanding about my razor passions.

Oh, that was you eh? I justified how good the price was on this set because of the bids on your blades. I loved your "darth vader" Wacker analogy. Anyhow, I owe you a big thanks. I couldn't have convinced her of their value without your sale! What made you sell them?
