Thanked: 0no boker, I was really going for the black one, figuring everyone else was going for the one you have. Lost them both in the last few seconds. probably best because my wife feels I have to many razors already. enjoy it and let me know how it shaves.

Thanked: 46The numbers on the blade could lead one to believe it a sales sample. Doesn't look to have ever been honed, but there is a very, very, small amount of circular wear at the pivot that would lead me to believe that it has been opened and closed quite a bit. This backs up the sales sample theory. Anyway, fine razor. Very Best, John

It is definitely not 'new old stock'. You have nothing on provenance whatsoever, so even if it used to be NOS it is no more.
The box is for a different model too, although with a mass production on that scale I wouldn't be surprised if w&b were sloppy enough send them out mismatched.
As far as the sharpie marker I would say this is how crazy rummors get started. If it were that easy to turn things into salesman's samples we could all turn our razors into sales samples or no samples within 3 seconds depending on which one is more profitable.

Thanked: 247Looks really nice to me. Not sure about the NOS suggestion, and the salesman sample idea seems fairly likely. I don't think salesman samples are super high on the profitability scale. But basically somebody wrote a number on the razor, and that's one possible explanation. I uhh, don't think this is how rumors get started, or that it's really that big of a deal one way or the other. But, it is a nice razor that I haven't seen a picture of before. So thanks for posting.
