WOW! that is neat! Seems to be kind of like a form of "Damascus" . I have 2 awaiting ivory scales. I have not shaved with the 13/16 one, but the 4/8 smiler does not know it is small! Shaves like a big boy!

i actually was in a knife store the other day and the guy had some of these...he also had an example of what it was made from...
i may be off, but he said that they run a high amount of electricity through the wires and it bonds it together. pretty interesting stuff...

Thanked: 995It could be technically possible to weld the wire rope that way but not without really complicating the process and running up the electric bill. Most makers stick to forgewelding (carbon based fires and hammerstuff) techniques that work just as well and are a lot cheaper. Either way its not merely a matter of getting it hot enough, you still have to close up the gaps in all those little wires that is the hard part. It is a cool example of what can be done though.
