FWIW, and I know that is absolutely nothing ... I don't agree with that conclusion. Reason being that I've yet to run into a razor that I cannot easily open be it a square, round or whatever point. Especially the old Sheffields with the large spines. OTOH, for those of us with the type of mustache that is trimmed below the schnoz the barber's notch ...... more correctly, according to some .... notch point , does make it significantly easier to manipulate in that area.

Jimmy, No I do not have the razor and no one knows what happened to it. I sure wish they did !!

hmm, I am a two-handed honer myself..but I thought the notch was for getting into the nostril area easier..ah, well, who knows , but I do like barbers notches. The one barber's notch razor I have is a serious pain in the ass to hone (it's an ebay razor.) I have yet to shave with it.
