The scope of the color selection and the pin work was a deliberate action on my part. The scales mimic the barber's notch on the blade. Most importantly, the razor was made during the reign of Queen Victoria and she would have worn the Imperial State Crown. At one time it was lined in a purplish blue ermine material and the the four pins in circling the notch suggests a shape of a crown. Also, the four pins represent the four major jewels in the crown St. Edward's Sapphire, a sapphire taken from the ring (or possibly coronet) of Edward the Confessor, the Black Prince's Ruby, the famous Cullinan II, or Lesser Star of Africa, and The Stuart Sapphire.
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is it's natural manure."
Thomas Jefferson, Paris, November 13th 1787

Thanked: 993Interesting. I wasn't a fan of all the toe weight, but now knowing the history and the connection, I think it's cool and appropriate.
Have fun.
