Hi Guys,
I got a E Weck & Son razor from my son for father's day. It's not the sort of razor I'd normally buy; I normally use a 'proper' straight or a Mühle R 89, but I'll probably restore it as my son gave it to me (if I can get some blades for it). It seems to be plated, and it's lost some of its plating; so I'm guessing polishing it will remove the plating. Not sure what sort of metal may be under the plating; maybe brass?
I've found a link here to a patent document that says the attachment is a 'stiffner'. I assume the stiffner is used WITH the razor?
I've found a possible blade replacement being these.
Has anyone ever used one of these? Would those Fromm blades fit? Does one use it always witht he 'stiffner' or can it be used without the stiffner as well? I note they can be used for shaping hair but also for shaving the face.
Of course I'd need new scales, but it is useable with the scales it has.
As I say, I'd not normally bother buying something like this, preferring better straights, but scince it was a gift I'll give it a go.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
