    Seems either they 'ripped DePew off' or produced it under license. If the monkey tail wasn't patented, I don't know if it was, using the 'Perfect Razor' etch might have been a trademark infringement if there hadn't been some sort of arrangement made. Just IMHO.

    I agree. The DePews certainly has a statement of "Depew's Patent June 6 1882 swooooping up the monkeytail!

    There are DePews like this one with Allen's NON-IXL and Rodger's marks on, so they must have been made under licence, presumably.
