Wow, that's the perfect razor! Seriously, that is pretty cool, unique for sure. You will know if it's good steel once you hone it and give it a go on your face. Let us know. The razor should clean up and polish real nice, with possibly some remaining pitting near the toe. What size is the blade? Looks like a 4/8 from the pictures, but it's hard to tell, the long tang and tail throws off my estimate. Good luck with that one.

Can you write what's left of the makers mark. It's hard to tell in that pic and blowing it up makes it to blurry to read.

There was an outfit that made those and used the 'Perfect Razor' etch on the blade. It is very similar to that one but I cannot remember the name. Joe Rodgers made some of those long monkey tails too. Someone will be along with the gory details. Nice variation you found there and for a bargain price.

Are you thinking of William H DePew, Jimmy? Similar monkey tail razor...

    Regards,
    Neil

EDIT: I see Bokerblade was thinking along the same lines!

That is the one. Couldn't recall the name of the maker.

Probably Schmachtenberg Bros They made some good stuff. I am lucky enough to have one, but not with a tail like that!
