    Default Bismarck Solingen 702 razor

So I got this the other day and cleaned it up. Seems to me that it's a 6/8 half hollow ground Bismarck from before the time that DOVO purchased the bismarck trademark.I honed it up last night and shaved this morning and absolutely love the razor. There is slight honeware as there is just over 5/8's now. The razor had a few spots of rust and one spot that pitted the rear face of the blade but nothing that would degrade the quality of the cutting edge or steel. Pics will follow tonight, as I'm at work right now (on military time lol).I can only find ONE other example of this razor and it's on ebay right now, in worse shape than mine.Does anyone have information about this manufacturer? About the razor specifically? I've seen Bismarck's with 'bismark registered' and just 'bismarck' and, like the one I have, 'bismarck solingen'.All the other examples of bismarcks i've seen only have 2 pin scales. Mine has 3 pins and heavy black bakelite scales.

I forgot to mention that on the front face of the blade there is, what seems to be, acid etching that reads 'PRIMA SILVER STEEL'.Hope that helps a little! I've searched the wiki here, used google, etc, and can't find anything

I'm at work, at 14 Wing, Canadian Forces Base Greenwood... I'm also not allowed having a camera on this side of base so even if I had my razor here with me I couldn't take pics to upload it!You'll get your pictures tonight around 330pm my time. What do you know about these things Stefan?

Vintage Bismarcks are nice razors, I have not seen a 702, I have seen a bunch of 14's and 18's only.

    Hi,

I have found one Bismarck 702 too, 3 weeks ago here in hamburg. The condition is stunning, like never used. No rust, no dirt but unlike yours with a white 3 pin scale with BISMARCK SUPER printed on.

I am aware that the Revisor factory, in Germany, has bought up and evidently continues to buy, old blanks. They seem to refinish them as the need comes along. The scales are often similar to what one might expect, but simpler. Names painted instead of inlays? Anyone here think that might be the case here? In the razor world things sometimes pop up that defy explaination. I recently picked up a razor that looks exactly like a De Pew, less the patent info on the tang. It has Joseph Rodgers info on the blade, where there would usually have been De Pew info. Any ideas from anyone?????
    Thanks,

    Thanks,
I can't give you any history but Joseph Rodgers also made a similar razor to the De Pews with the long monkey tail ..... but you already know that ...... I'm not sure who came up with it first. Maybe Neil, Manah, or Martin would have more info. I've see a few Rodgers like that over the years though.
