The first shave was done by who? You or the person that honed it? My first shave was good but felt a lot different than a cartridge razor so I thought my razor was pulling it was a different felling to say the least. The way it felt changed as the shaves went on and I improved. My first Razor was a Dovo Black Star with a factory edge and I shaved with it for a while before it was put on a hone. This is just me and the way it felt on my face

Maybe a little Windex on your computer screen would help you to see better.
    Man that's funny.

I also understood the post on the first read. Not the worst written post I've seen on SRP by FAR. And IMO, one doesn't have to be an english major to be part of the discussion on SRP.

    To the OP:

As recommended above, try a good careful stropping. Make sure the spine of the razor is always in contact with the strop, especially when flipping the razor. Also make sure that you place the razor on the strop spine first and lift it off blade first.

Watch the stropping video from the main page by Afdavis, and also watch Lynn's stropping video from the video section.

After that, try shaving only the easiest parts of your face and see if that works. If, after a while, you can't shave with your razor, then contact the vendor. Maybe Mike will rehone if necessary.

If you have a magnifier, take a look at the very edge of your blade. If you see little glinty, sparkly sections right on the cutting edge, then I think your edge is toast.

    Hey, Copper

I'm glad you're getting the input this way. The last thing needed would be for guys to turn hypocrit and say they got stropping right away and that you're just an underachiever. I was terrible at stropping - and for some time. Should your subsequent stropping efforts not bring back the joy, you can send to a pro or PM me for honing - just pick up shipping. Here, its handy to have a 2nd blade so you can keep shaving while one is out being touched up. It needn't be a costly blade, just sound and shave ready.

BTW: when I say I was terrible at stropping - I destroyed 5 strops. I've posted previously that I think some of them survived just so they could get revenge. 'Having no particular talent at this, I had to make up for that lack by ALOT of practice. On days I hone and test multiple razors, 1-2000 strokes stropping are common.

You'll get it. It'll come. And you'll LOVE your shaves. That's what keeps us at it.
