Thanked: 247Notta nothing perhaps this thread: Williams Razor Company, from Massachusetts
and not from lack of trying for sureWell it makes me happy to know that I've succeeded in snagging another razor that (going by forum posts anyways) is ultra rare. lol
If there's not a big old Geneva thread somewhere, then there really oughta be. But yeah this one just morphed into an "anything American made" thread. Idk about you guys, but I'm cool with that. In fact,I found one o' them felt pad razors on Ebay for 13 bucks....but..I didn't have 13 bucks..so
I'd have never known it was a US product, or it's neat little feature, if not for this thread, so I'm learnin here! Woo hoo!

This document might be interesting in light of this thread. It's the catalog of products by the Crucible Steel Company of America, Sanderson Works in Syracuse, NY. Published in 1911 (and thus now in the public domain). There's also Condensed Suggestions for Steel Workers which is, well, exactly what the title suggests (also published by the Crucible Steel Company of America, but this time out of Pitsburgh). And another one here.

That's great work, Martin. Where do you find this stuff? Imagine! 300 dozen razors a day, everything in-house with 200 workers and 90 grand payroll! My, how things have changed!

That is some cool info, Zak. I was researching Naylor for a bit on a Congreves razor and the history of Sanderson came up as the first big producer in America. No doubt many of these old razors were made of their steel!
In thinking about it, the info is still very usefull. I think it should be shared in the "forge" to benefit those making blades. Certainly there is something to be learned and discussed in these cool links! JMOLast edited by sharptonn; 12-06-2012 at 03:39 PM.

While we wait for Martin to get us going on more Geneva Cutlery(thanks, Martin!), I have found something interesting.
I am always suspicious of similarities, in particular of those with geographic coincidences.
I have found that Ontario Cutlery, also of Geneva (which is in Ontario County) Had their razors made by Geneva Cutlery prior to 1936. This makes sense of the statement in the post provided by Martin which states Geneva was able to sustain their Jobbing customers under their own private brands! It would be neat to know what other brands were actually produced by Geneva Cutlery! I give you Ontario Cutlery of Geneva, New York. A rebranded Geneva Cutlery razor!

I've got way too many irons in the fire at the moment or I'd have posted the steel stuff I'd dug up over to the Forge. In the interim, I'd come across this a few days ago doing research for something else. It clearly belongs here.
