    Default Help with Boker Identification

    Hello everybody,

Long time lurker, first time poster here. I just got into wet shaving and now straight razors just drew me in as a new hobby. So you could say I'm a little wet behind the ears still and just a little addicted

I somewhat went on a little shopping spree and picked up a couple of razors over the weekend. (On which I will post more info later.) One of which is a vintage Boker & Co. I did the eBay thing so I don't have it in my hand just yet, but was wondering if you guys could help me shine some light on what vintage it might be. I've looked at the tree logo diagrams and am still not sure which era it might be. Reason being, there seems to be an extra branch on the logo on the bottom right hand side... It could very well be just a speck of tarnish as well... here are some pictures from the seller. Thank you for any info.

The seller claims there is Germany written on the opposite side of the tang, but I don't see it there. I paid $35 for it. I hope it is a good razor and a decent price. I've only read positive things here about the Boker brand.

Oh, and the other razors I picked up are Marshal Hindenburg (rough shape with a brokem rear scallop but good to learn restoration on $5), and a A.W. Wadsworth & Son (not XLNT - says Swedish Steel on blade $15)...

Thanks for any help with this Boker.

Thank you for your very quick reply Martin103. That is the page I was checking, but maybe I am over-thinking this logo thing. Counting branches and all I was just worried that it might not be and authentic Boker. Will the older Bokers always have the "Tree Brand" and "Trade Mark" stamped along with the tree? I'm hoping this will clean up nicely so it can get a proper professional honing and help me foray into SR shaving ...

I too have a Boker that I can't exactly tell what vintage it is. Does anyone know when Boker made the "unrivalled" razor? I'm thinking 1930's but I could be wrong

You're right Martin... I am really looking forward to getting this razor, and seeing if I can get it looking good as new. I have a few vintage motorcycles and love bringing them back to being pretty, this will give me something to buff and polish in the off season

jpcwon .... There might be a lot of great info in the Boker Brotherhood thread too. Maybe see if you can find a similar razor to yours there? On Page 12, Doc posted a copy of the catalog that he received from Boker. I know it doesn't cover our years (because apparently most of Boker's records were destroyed in the fire), but a neat thing to flip through and learn about the different models. And they had plenty

Yeah, that is the pan from Hell. LOL

It's languishing at the moment. Maybe one of these days, I'll get interested in getting it going again.
