Default Just got it and needs opinion

    Hello all,

I just bought this Straight razor in an antique store and paid $ 10.00 for it.

I' completely new to straight razor and i need some suggestions in regard to it.

This straight razor needs work because is not sharp and I cannot shave it with it.

My question is: is it worth it to have someone hone it? Is this a decent straight razor for a beginner?

I'm located in California and if it is worth it to have someone hone it for me do you guys know of anyone able to do it?

    Please advise.

    Thank you in advance.

Its definitely worth having it cleaned up a lil bit and honed by a pro, if u go into.the classified on this web site ibelieve under member services you will find alot of people that hone and restore razors. Anybody that has a high number of posts has been around awhile and will take care of you. I have used many of them with great results.. that razor is good to go for a noob after a lil tlc!

Nice find. Should clean up nicely and should be a good shaver.

    Can't beat that for $10.
Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

I would say it's worth honing. You can send it away to get honed a lot cheaper than buying a new one. Should be around $20-$30. Besides, it's a nice razor.

Yes its worth it, if the blad is in good shape as it seems to be, send it to Lynn (IMHO) he did mine and when I got it back i know what a good shave was going to fill like, so then I could do my best to keep it that way or get it back there. all my straights are less then $15.00 or free in a trade, so price is NOT a facture in "a good straight razor". Looks like a nice one, have fun and welcome aboard, you have come to the rigth place.

    Hello all,

I was an impulsive buy so...lol

Never used a straight razor in my life and looking forward to use it.

It says made in Germany, hopefully it is still good.

    Thanks all
