I am interested in ordering one direct from the website, but the US is not listed in the shipping destinations. Has anyone here ordered one and had it shipped to the US, and if so, how did you go about ordering it? I figured maybe contacting him directly via email.

I did end up buying the Ralf Aust 5'8, and it is a great razor. You are right about it being easy to learn on the full-hollow ground. I was surprised at how stiff the blade feels, and it doesn't flex as much as I thought it would. I haven't had much trouble at all learning to shave with it, in fact, it seems fairly easy. However, I have had trouble learning to strop. I messed up several strokes for the first three times, and dulled the edge a bit right away. I bought the Modular Paddle Strop, and would highly recommend it because of its versatility. I love the interchangeable pads because it really helps you keep an edge sharp for a long time in between honings, provided that you don't dull the edge quickly like I did. All in all, I love my new setup, and look forward to using it for years to come.

You can select carbon or stainless steel, with or without top and bottom jimps, and with or without etching on the spine.
The one I ordered is the 5/8 spanish point, top and bottom jimps, plastic scales with crown bolsters. (And spine etching). $265 before shipping. I have to work the shipping portion out via email. But I will soon be the proud owner of a new Ralf Aust. I am very excited. (As is my wife, since this is her belated Christmas gift to me).

My wife bought me a 6/8 Aust in olive wood for Xmas. I'm still amazed by this razor. The ease of use and comfort of the shave puts all my others (7) to shame. Makes me wish I had a whole bunch of them. The only complaint that I can find with it is that the scales are horribly loose to the point that stropping is quite an adventure.

Until recently my only thought about the Ralf Aust was that I needed to get one to try it out at some point. But - a friend decided I needed to have one and a nice 5/8 round point showed up here last weekend. Today I shaved with it without touching up the edge at all - and all I can say is wow! It's a wonderful shaver! Now I need a 5/8 Spanish point as well as both a 6/8 round and Spanish point.
It's at least an equal to my C-Mon Cadillac, Dubl Ducks, and every 5/8 to 6/8 blade I've have. I have a few hundred of them shave ready and even more in the process of being restored and none shave better than the Ralf Aust. Hate to say it, but to me it shaves better than my Fillys!
My recommendation - get a Ralf Aust, any size or any point type (round or Spanish). You'll love it.
