This is a dangerous place....
a couple of years ago I bought my first straight blade in a kit from Thiers-Issard which had a Thiers Issard Special Hollow Ground straight razor with white celluloid handle; 5/8" round point , then a while later I bought a Thiers Issard 5/8" Celebration Silver Wing Straight Razor, Ram's Horn. Thought I had all I ever needed in the way of straight blades, was very happy and content and then just a few weeks before Christmas I found this site.
I decided I wanted to try vintage so together in one purchase I bought 3 pristine pieces, consisting of a Filarmonica Sub Cero #13 NOS 7/8, a Dubl Duck Satin Edge 6/8 and a NOS Carl Monkhouse 5/8 Carbon Steel Straight Razor 1/4 Hollow with Satin Finish. Then I picked up a Thiers Issard 7/8" Grelot Oak Wing Straight Razor, Limited Edition. Right now on route I have a Thiers-Issard Celebration Silver Wing Straight Razor, only this time it's 6/8, a 6/8 Wacker 70 Year Jubilee Mod3 Round Point "Black Razor"-dark horn, a 8/8 Henckels Friodur with custom scales and a totally restored Made in U.S.A around 1880 to 1890 Turner & Cowlishaw 6/8 Ivory Straight Razor. I also have my name on order for a Robert Williams custom SRP razor.
Today I ordered another Thiers-Issard but am having it shipped to a good friend who is keen on moving from a DE to a straight blade ...it's a Birthday gift.
So the question is....Have I got the RAD ?
Best,
Rob
PS....I can hardly wait for my credit card statement ;-)

Sure sounds like a case of RAD. It's nothing to be ashamed of and welcome to the club of addicts.
Why doesn't the taco truck drive around the neighborhood selling tacos & margaritas???

A married man should forget his mistakes. There is no use in two people remembernig the same thing.

If you stay at it we may be able to use your avatar under a new definition for RAD. Among us you are completely normal. This fascination of ours (wet shavers) has a common denomination found in our very DNA regardless of where we live, our background, our foreground, our race, creed, political persuasion or lack of and age. Welcome!
