I acquired a Modoso full hollow high carbon 6/8 recently on an Australian site (E bay rspe7027). Claimed to be shave ready, delivered on time, was 'vintage' in description. This razor was tops, excellent condition, sold as advertised, and was completely shave ready. Faux turtle scales and a markless blade, no rust. It's my favourite in the rotation. Why? It is purely ready to shave with! And it is a really nice razor to shave with....fair enough.!!

We come to the MO, so many times, the MO. The German word for Modern is Moderner. So it is a simple as that, the new, improved, updated that we all love so much.
I know I said I would not do it again, but when you are a stooge it is so tempting to want to be ScienceGuy. I made it up.

Initially they only supplied barbers and export companies, they soon manufactured and exported under their own name. The name Dorko is obviously a contraction of Dor(ten)Co. Which leaves a tantalising theory about how MoDoSo came about. 'Do' for Dorko and 'So' for Solingen, but 'Mo'? There was another company called Dorten & Mochalski in Solingen in 1925 if not before. Perhaps 'Mo' came from them - a collboration or family member, perhaps?

Now called DORKO Stahlwarenfabrik Dorten GmbH & Co. Solingen, I think they still make scissors, tweezers and strops.

I didn't know that Dorko made WUG straights. They pop up occasionally in Australia and I've owned a couple over the years. They're excellent shavers and now I know why.

2nd time in the rotation. The modoso is as we all expected. A terrific shaver, sometimes you know, when you do a tpt after you open the box. This one was sharp then and for it's 2nd trip to the basin was just a re-enforcement of the 1st shave. So if you see one (Modoso) don't wait.
