Dubl Duck "lifetime reaper" question.
Okay. I just purchased this awesome razor online. but when buying it the guy online sent me one picture of the front, upon receiving it I noticed the crack on the backside at the pin. my question is how does this hurt the value of this razor? and in your opinion is this razor in good shape? let me know your honest opinion. thanks

Thanked: 13246I am assuming that the crack has been repaired or is it just barely hanging there, also depends on how it was repaired, is there is a big Gob or CA or Epoxy on the back side of the scale.
Looks like the original pins, so perhaps nothing has been done, or they might have wicked CA into the crack which then the dirt is permenent now
So many things to think about

The crack has not been repaired, the crack will separate. which is better then someone trying to repair it I would think? and sixgun I sent you an email if you have not got it yet? I got a project for ya maybe? thanks

IMHO only, if it is for a collection where it is strictly a display razor it is acceptable ..... at a discounted price point ..... If it is for a shaver who will be stropping it and what not, the scale will have to be repaired or replaced. In any case it would have to be an attractive price or I'd send it back.

I just planed adding it to the collection, and not shaving with it. I don't think I paid a lot for it considering what I have seen them for on Ebay. well Just say I am in it for less then 250. so I don't know if to send it back or not? WWUD?

I'd send it back. I could live with some honest wear but a crack like that effects the integrity of the razor. I'm not big on rescaled razors. I'd rather have a little wear but all original or not at all. Obviously not everyone feels that way.
The seller should have made the crack known to you, along with a photo of that side, before he sold it to you.

I Emailed the guy back about it. it might have been something that happened in the mail? so we will see. I had insurance on it so if worse comes to worse.

You were hoodwinked if the seller didn't show the cracked side or mention it. I'd send it back and get my money back. The big allure with those razors are the scales and once damaged it ain't worth a hill of beans. You could try and repair it and if you are skilled you might get it to the point where you can't tell by looking but it will never stand up to actual use.
