Thanked: 33Just won this....

I just won this on eBay. I have been checking out what was on there with no intention of buying, since I really am not sure what I'm looking at (I have read the eBay threads, and I know the risks...). However, for the price I paid it would be no big loss to me.
What I am wondering is if it looks like it would be worth sending out to be cleaned and honed? While I don't mind just having it for collection sake, I would much prefer to use it for its intended purpose.

Thanked: 177Its solingen steel and appears to be in good condition. It should hone up fine. As a rule I wont buy a blade unless there is some return policy. I bought a washington works Wostenholm which was forged between 1848 and 1880. It had an invisible crack. I didnt see it neither did the seller. I wiped it with a cloth and the cloth hung up on the crack. I sent it back. Good luck with that. If you are going to send it to restore and hone, you might pay more than its worth though. I would certainly have it honed and use it for shaving. Good luck.

Nice score! Crown & Swords are very nice shaving razors. If it were mine I would clean, hone and shave with it.

Thanked: 33Thanks for the insights.
My issue is that I'm only a couple months in, and I have no idea how to hone. I could certainly clean it, but that's about it.
Once it actually arrives I can more closely inspect it. If theblade seems to not have structural defect, iI will check out the member services section and see about cleaning it up and getting it honed.

Send me a PM when it arrives, I'd be pleased to hone that up for you.
