Thanked: 9Are these scales MOP???
I am not sure if the scales are MOP. The blade will go, of course...
I was wondering if anyone saw (or knows of) such scales in plastic / celluloid?
Cheers

I just picked up a Heartring with scales that look just like that. They seem like celluloid so I'm not too optimistic in this case.

Thanked: 9The guy said celluloid but I thought I've never seen them in this material, only MOP...
Thanks for the tip, Ilija

I'm glad you like it Ivo. That other frameback is waiting until I finish shave-testing the giveaway pieces and it may have to wait a bit longer as I also picked up 3 for-sale pieces at the antique market, 1 of which was that immitation-MOP scaled Heartring that will sure break some hearts

I don't think they are MOP. probably celluloid.

Thanked: 324I think it's MOP. The giveaway (to me) is the carving and the fact that one scale is broken at the wedge pin, showing the brass liners that are always found on MOP and never found on celluloid. If it's celluloid, it would be the first I've seen that had brass liners and cracked and broke off completely at the wedge pin just like MOP would do. Celluloid is cast but rarely, if ever, carved.

I would say MOP also. I have already seen this scale design in MOP. Wait till you get the razor, the color should be much more lighter and whiter than that.

Thanked: 9Robert, Nenad
These were my thoughts also - especially what I thought the carved design and location of the broken piece.
Thanks!
