Thanked: 15I am sure your idea is correct. I have purchased a Mastro Livi for myself. Funny how your mind will play games to rationalize your desires. I rewarded myself for reading the entire thread ......... yeah ....... that's the ticket!

Wow! I am very flattered you read the entire thread! I started this thread about one year and a half ago because I wanted to share with the gentlemen of SRP my personal experience in ordering my very first Mastro Livi straight razor. I am flattered this thread helped you in living the same experience.
I know I have the privilege of living not so far from Mastro Livi workshop, but I am sure your enjoyment for shaving with one of his razors will not be anything less.
I guess we have a new member joining our "Mastro Livi Club"! Welcome and do not forget to post pictures of your razor in the club thread!
I am very curious to see what you bought in order to reward yourself for having read the whole thread!Last edited by razorguy; 10-10-2014 at 09:19 PM.

Thanked: 15Actually I found the read somewhat captivating. I like the personal reflection contained in your posts and feel as though I was able to get a glimpse of not only the craft, but of the man as well. Thank you for providing a very interesting read. I was joking when I said it was a reward for reading, and have been wanting a custom razor for a while. I ended up purchasing a razor from the SRD site. The description was as follows: "Gorgeous 8/8" French Point blade made of Mastro Livi's hand forged carbon Damascus has a striking pattern and extended tang. It has jimps on the bottom of the shank. Also with Stainless steel pins. This blade is set in a extraordinary set of Buckeye Burl Scales with Mammoth Ivory inlays on each end." I will try to post some pics when it arrives.

Thanked: 15In the short time I have been on this forum, my reading of past threads has caused me to have a certain level of respect for a short list of members here. I am certain that as I read more and am here longer that the list will grow. There was input in this thread from a couple of members whose opinions I value, and that along with your accounts of interaction with Mastro definitely swayed me not only toward one of his razors, but also toward me spending a bit more than I really wanted to. Such is life.
I am really looking forward to shaving with this razor, and will let you know when it arrives.

Thanked: 0Thanks for all the great Livi videos! Its very cool watching him work. Makes me want to go get a forge and make things. Maybe in a few decades I could create something half as good. Someday I will add a Mastro Livi to my collection.

Mastro Livi Double Damascus San Mai, 15/16 Full Hollow, Barber's Notch
It is so hard to tell what is the Mastro Livi straight razor I like the most. Of course I like them all and each of them brings its own story, character and soul. And, of course, a truly personal and different shaving sensation. Mastro Livi carbon damascus is both beautiful and high performing, but I admit this san mai double damascus straight razor is even more special. Not only for the fact Mastro Livi engraved my name in the tang, but also for the fact I watched the whole making of this razor and it was "tailored" on my hand grip, something you can see in razor's spine and tang. This razor is very special to me. Scales too are breathtaking: they are made from a beautiful piece of amboyna burl with three colors, absolutely awesome. And I am sure of this: this Mastro Livi double damascus sanmai straight razor is a truly and excellent masterpiece. And it has my name in it.
