If you speak about notch in the picture.
I am very, very curious to find out more about a 'fact' like this.
Only one picture from any manufacturers catalogue with such "intentional" notch.
P.S. 2Baxxer, It's not necessary to trust all sellers ...Alex Ts.

That is the question, what possible special purpose could such a notch have ? I wonder if any of those inclined to searching out razor related documents, articles, catalogs and manuals have ever seen such a design as that ? BTW, while I'm inclined to agree with gugi that it is a chip, I'm open to the possibility that it is part of the design with a specific purpose in mind.

Thanked: 3164Google "Heljestrand Excellens" and you get hundreds of hits - all referring back to one supplier, a Swedish shop called Gents. Their write up is as follows:
Notice that they do not even know who 'K. Andersson' was and that they are appealing for more information.
The razors were apparently made in the 1900s (although they look a good few decades more recent to me), laid about for 50 years, then Gents purchased the stock from a local dealer. They say that CVH ceased in the 1960s, but they existed in the 1980s, the name being acquired in 1995 and production (not of straight razors) began again.
I'm not too sure that Gents - on the basis of the above - are qualified to offer an opinion on the so-called notch. For all they know, the blades were laid aside as rejects.

Neil

In 1972 or '73 I bought a Heljestrand MK 32 with white plastic or celluloid scales at Hoffritz For Cutlery. So it was either NOS, or Helje was still in biz .......

Thanked: 3164Obviously Mr Andersson didn't like chips in all his razors...

Apart from their description all I see is that they have on their website photographs of one 4/8, or may be even smaller razor, with plastic scales and a chip and they are asking over $300 for it.
For that price even these days one should be able to get a pristine MK3? with ivory or if lucky even turtle shell.
So, yeah, unless that outfit can show a decent quantity with the exact same chip, or we get a real catalog photograph with a chip, or may be more razors from different sources with the exact same chip, I remain extremely skeptical about a 'notch'.
Anybody who knows how razors are made should be able to see the extreme foolishness of that thing from a manufacturing point of view.

I showed the pic to my wife. She said "it's broken". She is always right. Ask her, she shall tell you so!
Sad thing is, I must agree with her. Ohhhhh, it has been a hard day today!"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

I'm sorry for the delay, I needed my beauty sleep.
I'm more sorry that I can't provide any document's but I've seen this model about three or four different times, both nos and used and all of them had notches.
Here is a link to one with black scales, a bit blurry but you should be able to make it out if you enlarge the picture.
