Default Dovo Flowing vs Bergischer Lowe

Greetings guys. A lurker posting for the first time here! I will be making my way over to the introduction thread to introduce myself shortly but in the meantime I have a question if I may...

I am looking to purchase a second razor (and perhaps make it my last...ummm maybe?). I am a bit torn between the Flowing and Bergischer Lowe. I am primarily wondering how each would shave so those of you that own both I would be very interested to ask you if there is any difference in the shave.

However, I would like to know more about the Flowing in general also as I just have not been able to find as much info on it as the Bergischer Lowe. Any and all opinions are very welcome!!

    Thanks!

    Attila.

Good morning and welcome to SRP! I own the flowing and find it to be a great razor that gives a great, smooth, shave. Sorry I can't tell you about the other one but good luck trying to stick to only one or two razors- it'd be a miracle if you can!

Anyone willing to set up betting odds on this one?!

As to your question - I do not own either of those two but I just got (this past week-end) the dovo #1226850 which is sort of the "House" razor from The Superior Shave. The blade is made from the same blank as the Flowing, without the decorative spinework (as are the current Bismarcks) I really like this razor, especially the way it feels in my hand. If you want a less expensive alternative, I can reccomend this one (and I guess by extension, the Bismarck).

Then my vote is for the Bergischer Lowe. I am willing to bet that the Flowing will handle and shave in a very similar fashion as your Bismarck - try something different. The Spanish point alone will give you a different experience...

A good point (pun intended). I was leaning in that direction myself. Hopefully the Spanish point won't be too much of a good thing...

I have the BL. it's a great shaver just be aware all that Gold decoration makes it hard to clean if you want to preserve it.

Take a walk on the wild side then. If you already have a Dovo then go for another brand. On my wish list is a TI, and about 90 others. I really like trying different razors. My little collection grows slowly here and there, but there are so many to choose from. Look through the classifieds and browse some of the vendors and look at many razors.

I couldn't find a profile of the grind for the flowing razor, and I suspect that it's the standard Dovo grind, but the BL is extra hollow ground. I have that one and it is the best current production Dovo I've shaved with. But as TBS said you'll very likely loose the gold wash over time.
