I have bought good metal polish at the right price from Supercheap. Better stuff than at Bunnings in my opinion, YMMV or whatever the acronym is! I personally like MAAS, but not available locally.

Don't these stores have web sites there ???? Here you can by online (anything) and they will deliver it to your local store. You just pop in and pick it up. I was surprised that Home Depot sold beds.. Yep the kind you sleep in.

I purchased a cheap big bag of assorted size and colour microfibre cloths from Bunnings years ago and wash them in the washing machine between uses. I also use them to keep my Espresso coffee machine clean. They are still available IME. Love TLA's

Actually, I think it's a deeper problem. You 'opened it, looked at it, and put it away in your room'. Doesn't sound to me like you showed it any love at all. It's spite, pure spite on behalf of the razor. They are very sensitive little things, despite their tough looks. You need to un-do your wrongs and love him and comfort him...

If you can't find any thin mineral oil (it needs to be thin in order to 'creep' into the tiny microscopic nooks and crannies in the steel) then a light sewing machine oil will be fine. Better still would be Ballistol, but it looks like you are having a hard enough time finding things over there, so that might not be possible. You don't need any special applicator - just some folded toilet tissue will do to wipe the oil on and off with.

As a point of interest, have you noticed that the blade looks to have a frown? Try gently putting a straight edge up against the cutting edge and look for the bevel (cutting edge) curving away from your rule towards the spine in the middle. It looks that way on my monitor, but it might just be the lens or something. If it is a frown and it has been honed at the place you bought it from, then you might have grounds to return it - the moisture could have been on the blade from honing and sealed in under the oil.

"Mineral oil is used as an emollient in various skincare products. It is the main ingredient in baby oil."

Wonderful stuff and easier to find than mineral oil.

    Hope this helps.

Hi neil, I found what I needed coles (grocery store), baby oil, which when I bought and read what was in it seeing it was mineral oil was shocked, and Ballistol steel polish.

I did try and do 2 rounds of polish on the blade, it fixed it a bit, but still has like stains or white marks where the rust was, im not sure if this is that pitting ive seen mentioned or not.
