    I'd suggest you get an eye loupe. I learned when I used to collect pocket knives in the 1970s to carry a jeweler's loupe when I was going 'hunting'. At that time a 14x B&L. Came in very handy for examining tang stamps on knives as well as bevels on razors.

    I keep a cheap loop in the console of my car; never know when your going to get flagged down by an antique mall.
