I have no idea whether or not Hart will warranty a second hand razor. I know they take a look at it and give their professional opinion on any potential defects.

I have a couple of Hart razors (both 2nd generation, 7/8, square tip - one polished, one satin). Both of my razors arrived in pristine condition and shave like a dream. I have had the opportunity to contact their customer service department, though. They were prompt and courteous, exactly what I expected. I'm sure they take pride in their customer service based on my experiences. Bear in mind, they do not have weekend hours, and you will have a short delay if you contact them on the weekend.

Anyway, I hope your problem gets a resolution that you feel good about. I really like my Hart's.

Just my 2 bits but any and all customers really need to make the efforts to straighten out problems by dealing with the vendor or the manufacturer before complaining here. Members who come here to complain about a vendor, or manufacturer and have not made contact with the vendor or manufacturer must think SRP has some special remedy for them. It is patently unfair to the vendor or manufactuer to complain here and possibly damage a reputation when you have not sought the proper initial remedy to your problem and done so as soon as you believe there is a manufacturers defect. I believe Hart Steel will be more than willing to take a look at your problem and let you know their decision.
No way to know if you are making a general comment, or directing this at me. Either way, I do believe I mentioned that I had emailed Hart. If I didn't say it I will now. I emailed them prior to posting and have yet to receive a response. I know they are not open on weekends, as I had called them also.

More important... I am not complaining, so please don't imply that I am. Nor am I expecting that SRP will have any magic solution. I am merely reaching out to others who may have had similar experience. Isn't that one of the reasons forums such as SRP are established? To bring our collective knowledge of this wonderful hobby to one place for the good of all of us to give to and take from?

I had only hoped to educate myself.

    What did I miss?

I humbly agree with Mike on this one. Possibly a tad harsh putting someone to the lashes when they speaks less than favorably about a vendor in this case? Looking at his post numbers it is conceivable that he is simply looking for acceptable practice.

Gentlemen, I appreciate the direction offered here by those who have responded and feel compelled to clarify further... I am not complaining or speaking negatively about Hart or the razor. I was attracted to the razor and Hart for a number of reasons and that hasn't changed. For some reason, there exists a chasm between my intentions and how this intent was delivered (or received). So with words and music not matching, it might be best if we just close this thread.

    Thanks all.

No experience with straight razor shaving yet... but from the looks of it.... That's a beautiful razor!
