Has anyone used this Damascus Steel Blade
Good day folks, I have just joined this forum and must say I love the amount of information that is available. I have been looking for my first straight razor and can't seem to make a decision on what to get. I have found in my research that it seems damascus steel is the elite material to get to keep a keen edge. I found this blade and was wondering if anyone has used it and wondering why it was so economical in comparison with everything I have looked at?

My advice would be do not buy that razor under any circumstances. It is basically good only as a paperweight. Inferior construction.

I second that. If you take a close look, the blade grind seems slightly off!

I very much doubt it's a real Damascus blade. Probably plain steel with the pattern chemically applied. You could never get the real deal for even triple the price. Even if it was real it's probably from Pakistan or China. I wouldn't buy it.

Thanks for the prompt replies fellows. I had every flag possible going off in my head on this and just wanted to confirm from people with experience. Thanks for the help, I apologize for the questions but I am a newb and I want to buy a blade that will be worthy of a decent shave. I am looking at this one and wonder what your input on the price is for it? Too much? This is what I am kind of looking for, something that has a great eye appeal as well as decent steel.

I saw a Dovo in the Classifieds that is half that price and gorgeous, to boot... Check it out.

Thanked: 3164The 'Damascus' razor posted above was made by G. B. Buckingham & Sons - on the wiki 'Razors To Avoid' list.
Here's a pic to help identify it:

Thanked: 20Bought one of those Damnedascus and regretted it, returned it for a refund! I could not hone it to save my life. The steel is not good at all for a razor..
