Does anyone have information on papillon razors? Im interested in their history.
Picked this one up a while ago and cant find much about them. One person was able to tell me what they are called and linked a little bit of their history. Apparently they were made by POWs during the Napoleonic wars?
Thanks guys.

I would not concern myself with trying to remove the Devil's Spit, as it is almost impossible, at least for me,,but I would still work the blades with 1K 3M wet/dry, 0000 steel wool & WD-40 as a lube with the paper & wool, & Mother's by hand. Then use Colgate on the scales & pins,,,, then round off & stabilize that scale tip that is shattering,,,, Look at the bevel under a loop,,, see if the problems run to the edge,,,then evaluate how best to put an edge on her.
This is my amatuer restoration attempt,,,,or,,,,send it to the pros for an overhaul.
Hone it & shave with her

That how I clean most razors, im just concerned over how much devil spit there is on this piece. Maybe since its alot older/cool than I realized I will send it off to have it done up properly.

On this one it might be a good idea to send her off to a pro. If not for honing, then for ideas on preservation.
