Well I honed her up last night, there was a pretty good edge on it to start with and it would cut arm hair at a push as it was but I took it back using my norton 1k and progressed from there. I've been having a little trouble with finishing lately but I really took my time and concentrated more on my strokes than I normally do. 'Back to basics' if you will. I finished on my 8k as normal ( ive got a simple set up, all i own is a norton 220/1k and a 4k/8k (until my nani12k arrives!)) but instead of using my crox strop I used crox on balsa on my tabletop and found I got really good results after a good strop on my leather. I test shaved it last night and I'm so pleased, I went with the grain and across the grain and it's the best shave I've had for months. All in all I'm a very happy man, it's boosted my confidence when it comes to honing and just shows that getting back to basics and keeping it simple sometimes works wonders.
