It would be something you could use, alternatives would be yellow coticules, thuringens etc. I am aving up for the 10K, so if you ddn't like it, i'm sure we could sort something out! :nj

www.axminster.co.uk you will need to check whether it is a g-1 or a different 8000 grit stone, because king make a variety of stones, but from the photo's i can tell it is one of their higher end...

I have a king 1000/6000 combo and i am quite fond...
I have a king 1000/6000 combo and i am quite fond of it. It was my first jap stone. I use the 6000 grit as a large nagura, to build up some fine slurry on my king f-1 before razor honing.

That is a very good stone, but i'm sure you could find it MUCH cheaper than that. They sell it in the UK for £47, about $100. You might also consider tracking down a kitayama or naniwa fine polishing...
