I've a suspicion the activated charcoal being used in a shaving soap has more to do with it being an exotic ingredient than it does being beneficial.

By the way, I wonder what happened to the OP....

The water filter I use for camping contains activated charcoal. I am not sure I see the need for charcoal in a shaving soap.
