Just hope you don't get HAD...lol. You may want to consider a Norton 4/8k combo stone. I as well as many others have gotten great edges off of these stones. Plus there is a ton of information on these too. You may be able to use the dragons tongue to finish. Good luck, glad to see you come over to the 'dark' side...

HAD..? Oh, don't worry about that, I've already been eyeing-up Belgian Blues, Nortons, Naniwas, not to mention the holders.

I'm not too pleased with the edge on this razor. I don't know what it is but this is the only razor I own/have owned that I can't consistantly get an edge on it that I like. It may become the first straight razor I have owned that I sell (I've given away two others).

    Thursday evening
    Hot water prep
Ed Wusthof razor - New Forest badger brush - Coate's shaving cream - cold water splash - Thayer's rose resplash - Proraso green tea & oat balm - Lorenzo Villoresi "Uomo" sampler EdT

A perfect shave. Touched up the blade on a water Coticule, followed by a water Thuringer stone. A few laps on red and multiple laps on bare leather. Two passes to perfect smoothness. The iPhone played Arkology Reel 1 from Lee (scratch) Perry in the background, which gave a nice slow vibe to the whole thing.
This was the kit that had been away from home for a while. Glad it still works charms once back in the den.
My weekend starts here gents! I'm taking a long one.
