The Ellifira is a fleabay find - I've never heard of this before, but the blade looked pretty good. I cleaned it up (Maas polish etc) but when I looked at it with a loupe, there was damage to the tip - it looked like it had been dropped, and it was jagged - it actually looked like a bit of a hook. I ran the tip along the edge of my King 1k an rounded it ever so slightly and then followed a honing pattern based on gssixgun's JaNorton idea.
Shave beautifully this morning. Nice keen edge.

Grad school or no grad school I decided today that my fixed blade straights have rode the pine for long enough. I started with a touch up hone. Then shaved my face right off the stone. The edge was good but there was just a barely perceptible tug. When my face was shaved I gave the razor a couple hundred laps on canvas, then on leather. I then turned the razor on to my quite fuzzy dome (had over a week's growth of hair that I didn't even run clippers through). Two passes later, the Heljie delivered a BBS dome. Now that's my version of the HHT- will it cut hair hanging from my head. Tomorrow, I'll get the Boker Red Injun squared away. I bet some of the new guys were convinced I had no "real" straights. The older I get, the better I was
